Repatriation is not complete when a plane lands or land is purchased. Return has to become relationship, structure, memory, livelihood, protection, education, and continuity. That is why the Abibitumi Conference + Abibifahodie Festival matters to the Decade of Our Repatriation.
The 2026 gathering takes place December 12–13 at Abibitumi Headquarters in Akuapem Mampong, Ghana. Its theme, Construction of Black Civilization, moves the conversation from the symbolism of return toward the systems required to sustain Black life on our own terms.
The call for presenters has ended. Now the diaspora and continent must build the room: families considering return, recent repatriates, experienced returnees, cultural workers, educators, organizers, and builders who understand that no individual journey can substitute for durable institutions.
See the official conference information and reserve December 12–13. Come prepared to connect your personal return to the collective work of rebuilding.
